Jutemaster
Jutemaster is the first one hundred percent organic matting to be produced and is mainly used to stabilise banks, suppress weeds and to promote the growth of vegetation. This geotextile is available both as a fine mat and as a thick mat.Suitability
Jutemaster Fine Mat has been designed specifically to allow vegetation to grow through it, at the same time protecting the earth surface against rainfall erosion. Providing such protection allows the vegetation to establish a root system, which in turn stabilises the surface of the slope.
Jutemaster Thick Mat is thoroughly recommended as a weed barrier as it inhibits growth of unwanted broadleaf weed as well as most narrow leafed plants, at the same time protecting against erosion control whilst vegetation cover establishes.
Site Preparation
It is important to have an evenly graded surface so that both forms of Jutemaster can closely contour the soil surface.
Installation
It is also important to secure both forms of Jutemaster by means of pegs or pins. All edges of the matting are firmly anchored or "keyed" into spade deep trenches with pins.
Benefits
Jutemaster is extremely beneficial as it offers immediate protection against eroision, whilst allowing vegetation cover to establish. Another advantage, unlike other geotextiles, is that it becomes very flexible when wet, allowing it to take on a ground hugging quality. The easy-to-install Jutemaster also has the added advantage of being economical for developers and home owners to use in small areas.
